Akiva Eldar -- Israeli Journalist speaks on CSPAN
by Sophia Barkat

Akiva Eldar, Chief Political Columnist, Ha'aretz Newspaper (Israel) was on CSPAN.

He said very clearly that Israeli politicians have made Arafat into the "obstacle" when the problem is "the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land".

He just said "Barak put a spin on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict."

According to Akiva, Barak convinced the Israelis that, "We gave Palestine the best offer for peace. But they rejected it."

This made Israelis believe that Palestinians are not capable of negotiations.
That Barak and Sharon were against the Oslo Accord -- Perez, Rabin and
Arafat's secret meeting to which the US Dept. of State was kept in the dark about.
