Democrats speak about the
War Dashcle's Speech, March 17th 2003 (by Sophia Barkat) I just heard Daschle speak on how Bush has failed to achieve consensus in the UN, and how he wished it could have been reached. For those not aware of the Nuremberg Charter, pre-emptive strikes are illegal and breach of International Law, to which the US is party to, and thus a breach of the US Constitution as such. Democrats in Congress like Daschle can impeach Bush based on this, but they are cowards and won't go there, in fear of being labeled unpatriotic. This is unfair to supporters of the Democratic Party and hypocritical to say the least. Why aren't journalists asking the question, "Why is the Democratic Party not doing its job?" In response to Sophia Barkat (by edarmas@yahoo.com) Daschle has proven that he could not lead himself, let alone anyone else, out of a burning building. It is time for him to resign his position as leader of the Senate Democrats. Time for everyone to take a stand. In response to Sophia Barkat (by Trevor, tebatt@chello.nl ) Oh what crocodile tears! Can one imagine the difficulties if the inspectors had declared Iraq disarmed! How can two countries blame 13 others for failing to agree with them? Didn't Bush, at the moment that he went to the UN say that if diplomacy failed then he would go it alone? Apparently the rest of the world can choose between supporting US wishes -or be declared redundant and be blamed for not agreeing. I suppose the next step will be a law claiming that women who do not give their husbands permission to beat them up deserve to be beaten up just for being so stubborn! Senator Byrd by Sophia Barkat Senator Byrd (D-WV) writes everyday to oppose the War. For some of his recent speeches seehttp://byrd.senate.gov/ Congressman Benjamin Cardin on CSPAN by Sophia Barkat I just found out about him through a CSPAN show where Rep. Benjamin Cardin (D-Maryland, Homeland Security Committee, is speaking. A member of the audience just spoke about how Lyndon Larouche supports impeaching Bush, Chenney etc for violation of International Law. It's worth mentioning that Benjamin Cardin voted against giving tax-cuts to the rich. And he opposed the Congress giving power to Bush. Funnily enough he serves in the Homeland Security Committee and also said that since Iraq was given ample time to make amends the attack on Iraq was not a pre-emptive strike. One audience speaker asked why the US spends 20 billion dollars in Afghanistan on the US military, but how Afghanistan cannot get one billion dollars to finance their budget. The Congressmen answered this by saying international organizations should be present in Iraq for rebuilding. Someone asked why the US hasn't signed the UN Declaration on Human Rights when it keeps sighting the Declaration. Congressmen replies he supports a international court of justice. Talk about not answering the question. Is this a policy? I don't know any. One speaker asked, siting a New York Times April 10th article, that 30 members on the Committee of Defense are involved in defense companies that won contracts in Iraq. Congressmen did not respond to the answer. A US Navy Spokesman Lt. Dan Hetlage said that US troops are rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan as we speak - electricity, hospitals, water etc, schools. One lady asked what would happen to Veterans - as often than not Veterans get turned away by Veteran Hospitals and have to live on Food stamps. |
