Lobby Groups for the Rich & Greedy New America Century Group by Sophia Barkat Sounds like someone made big plans to take over the world and it wasn't al-Quaeda. I followed Cherrie's post on Bush Sr.'s Presidency and wallah: http://newamericancentury.org/ At the homepage, William Kristol, Chairman, says: "The Project for the New American Century is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to a few fundamental propositions: that American leadership is good both for America and for the world; that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle; and that too few political leaders today are making the case for global leadership." "The Project for the New American Century intends, through issue briefs, research papers, advocacy journalism, conferences, and seminars, to explain what American world leadership entails. It will also strive to rally support for a vigorous and principled policy of American international involvement and to stimulate useful public debate on foreign and defense policy and America's role in the world." Whether "diplomatic energy" means "a good arm twisting and bribery" I can only wonder, looking at Powell's attempt to buy UN Security Council Votes. "Stimulate public debate" it has done. It should be noted that the New American Century's Chairman owns the Weekly Standard -- right-wing magazine... -- and was President Bush Sr.'s Chief of Staff, and Reagen's Secretary of Education. He also taught politics at U. of Pennsylvania and at Harvard Kennedy School of Govt. I always thought I could spot these people in academia -- staunch "Conservatives" and loyal yes-men of the US Government. Now I can be sure. Here are other ex-govt. officials and academians now running the show: http://newamericancentury.org/aboutpnac.htm |
