The Food & Drug Lobby Sweet US by Trevor Batten According to the BBC domestic TV news -the US in now opposing a WHO report that says that sugar should not make up more than 10% of our diet. It seems the US believes in free markets -but not in healthy markets. WHO attacks US sugar lobby Obesity on the rise. The WHO says sugar intake is a leading cause of obesity. The World Health Organization has accused big business interests in the United States of trying to influence a new report on the dangers of consuming too much sugar - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/2966187.stm by Cherrie Lynn Lipsett Re: Trevor's post You are right here. If health interferes with corporate profits forget health. "They" put sugar in everything here because a multi billionaire owns sugar cane plantations. Also we have to have beef here that has growth hormone implants which causes cancer, on set of puberty early in some kids, reduction in male fertility, and I imagine is some of the cause of the extreme over weightiness of the American public. Thank God the EU is resisting letting this beef be imported to their countries. Or I guess it still is even though the WTO had said the US can impose tariffs on some of their products in retaliation. The WTO just looks at short-term profits and is therefore on the Corporations side and not the human beings. There are many reasons why I look so favorably on the EU and look to it for the salvation of human beings on the planet. Also we have genetically modified corn, etc. What this means is you can not save the seeds and grow another crop. If this type of genetically modified food seed become in use the world over the corporations can not only control the world by controlling the energy supply through the control of oil but also the food plant supply by allowing or not allowing countries to have seed to plant. And yes this is a well thought out conspiracy that is the real platform of the right wing of the Republican party. Yes the plan has evolved since the 70's and I imagine is still evolving. This is the end results of the New American Century group (did I get the name of the group right) in the end. The "New Age" Hitler definitely yes. Oh the EU is also resisting the use of the genetically modified food plants also. by Trevor Batten Re: Cherrie's post Well, I understand the EU did win its case at the WTO that the US was wrong in introducing steel tariffs, although I believe the US plans to ignore the WTO decision. I guess what is truly amazing (and perhaps frightening) is the way the US government seems to allow commercial corporations to organize as much as they wish in order to manipulate the public -but do not like the public organizing to oppose the corporations. Cynical observers might well suspect ulterior motives! |
