Convicted Wrongly: The Case of Nick Tucker

by Scott Lomax

Nick Tucker was convicted of the murder of his wife Carol, but if you study the facts you will see that she died as a result of a car accident which could easily have resulted in Nick having lost his life as well. The couple were in a Fiesta, driving from a pub meal, when some deer strayed on to the road. Swerving to avoid hitting the animals, the car plunged into a river. Carol's body was found floating in the river and she died at the scene. Nick was found with his head below the water. He was unconscious (although it was claimed at trial that he was play acting).

There was NO EVIDENCE at all, medically speaking, that Carol was murdered. No pathologists believed she had been murdered so a case was constructed on tenuous evidence. For example it was shown that Nick had had an affair. this was true but the affair had ended and the woman he had been with had moved to Switzerland to live with her partner, and they soon married. Other evidence has an innocent explanation too.

Here is a link to an article I wrote for http://www.mojuk.org.uk:

If you have time, please read it. It covers all the relevant points.

Nick is hoping to have his case referred to the court of Appeal, which is why he is wanting to publicize it now. he wants good publicity so that there is a greater chance of the CCRC referring his case. Recently, Professor Derrick Pounder of the University of Dundee has studied the facts. He has also said there is no pathological evidence to suggest Carol was murdered.

People should be concerned about this case because there is no evidence to suggest a crime was committed but a man has been sentenced to life imprisonment as a result.
