Healthcare Reform: A Patient's Point of View
by Cherrie Lynn Lipsett I have also had terrifying experiences with the US health care system. The system, a doctor in it, killed my husband. I could have sued and been a millionaire today the case was that open and shut. I don't believe in all this litigation but do believe it should happen when there is just cause and I did definitely have just such a case. I settled by having the man quit practicing so he didn't kill any more people! The doctors have a racket. The good doctors see only those with private insurance and let the bad doctors, (who the good doctors know are bad) stay in practice to see the people without insurance and those on Medicare and Medicaid. I do not feel the physicians should police themselves as they do a piss poor job of it!! In fact as I said they want the bad doctors to stay in practice so the good doctors can skim the cream of the patients off the top of the barrel. And the medical schools are not turning out enough good doctors for everyone to have a competent doctor. My first husband was a Veterinarian (I have been married twice) and I remember when he was in vet school. He and his friends use to laugh at one guy who was always killing of his dog or cat during surgery. They would say I hope when he gets out he goes into meat inspection so he doesn't kill a bunch of people's pets. And the guy was graduated. The same thing happens in med. school and I am sure the competent students laugh just like the vet students. Also the type of medicine practiced by the doctors is criminal in my opinion. They practice what is called rule everything else out medicine. I think that is what they call it. They send you for tests and blood work for everything they think could be wrong with you (well if you give a lot of correct symptoms and they listen they do know a lot of the things they send you for tests for are not wrong. They couldn't be as the symptoms don't add up) but they get a kick back on every test and from every doctor they send you to. And this is one of the reasons medical costs are so high in this country. Not because of litigation!! The doctors say they have to practice this type of medicine to keep from getting sued! WELL IF THAT IS THE CASE THEN QUIT TAKING KICK BACKS FROM EVERY DOCTOR AND EVERY TEST YOU SEND A PERSON FOR!!!! I don't remember what medical costs are in this country but I do know they are higher (a lot higher) here in the US then any where else and we do not have the best health care system in the world and we are not the nation of the longest living population in the world. I think we are 8th or 9th in the longest living human beings per country. The last thing the doctors have you take tests for is what they really think is wrong with you. That way they get kick backs for lots of tests and for you to see lots of doctors. They don't care that you are really sick and the stress all these tests put you through just about kills you and really lowers your resistance. They just want as many kick backs as they can get. They don't care that they spend a month running you here and there while you try to cope and get sicker- they just want their kick backs so they can get richer. They don't care that you have no insurance and this is going to brake you- run you bankrupt. All they care is that they get their kick backs and get rich. And they call themselves physicians- people of compassion and caring that want to care for the well being of people! I have heard as many horror stories as you have Sophia. We all have! And the doctors wonder why when there is a trail by jury the patient gets really high awards. WELL EVERYONE HAS HAD A SIMILAR HORROR STORY AND HAVE HEARD OF A DOZEN MORE!!! NO WONDER THEY STICK IT TO THE DOCTORS. THEY ARE JUST GETTING EVEN!!! As far as your margarine headaches. I got them when I was young. Would just have to take an Elival and go to bed and sleep it off. The headaches quit when I got of birth control though. And I do know all present forms of birth control that you take as pills, injections, patch, etc. do also cause severe margarine headaches in some women. Just though I would throw that in hopes it might help. I am not for discussing the present group of Democrats running for Pres. health plans. The reason being I think it would be a waste of time now. We don't know who is going to win and we don't know if they will then become president and then they have to have a plan they can get through congress. It really doesn't matter what their campaign plans are I think. What matters is if they get elected what they can get through congress. I certainly would be for discussing it and writing congress if a Democrat is elected. I think it is important that they all do have plans and plan to do something. I think by having a plan they have to do something about health care if elected. Our health care system is completely broken and needs a complete overhaul. It can't be patched in my opinion. I could go on and on about the health care system in the US. All bad. |
