Huge bombs - No precision necessary

Iraqi Civilians Bombed              by Sophia Barkat

US admits Iraqi Civilians may have been bombed:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&cid=1503&ncid=1503&e=1&u=/afp/20030\ 326/ts_afp/iraq_war_baghdad_us_1

It seems that the defense lobby is advocating the Economy Size idea a bit too far.  Do bulkier weapons cost more and hence allow more to be funneled into the defense industry, the father and mother of the US Government? Who's buying these products on behalf of the US Government? And do they get some kind of pay-off ? No business is done without payoffs;  not even the biggest cost-saving project gets passed without some form of bureaucratic pay-off.

What's the structure of the US defense industry? And why aren't they making higher precision bombs yet?

BBC WORLD TV showed footage from various Arab TV stations this evening. Pretty gruesome stuff -even a decapitated body -although they cut before the blanket was fully removed.
