Is the Bush Administration Hiding Facts?

Bush Administration eliminates program that reports corporate layoffs
by Sophia Barkat

I don't know if you got to read the article,
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/0103-02.htm

but it shows how Bush Administration is cutting down programs that are useful,
provide economic guidance to the investment community and would prefer that bad news about the economy be swept under the rug rather than reporting it.

Corporate lay-offs - once reported every month - will not be collected by the US Dept of Labor.

Since this information was useful, I'm now assuming some private corporation or think-tank will report this news.

Now knowing how statistics about company lay-offs is probably already provided to the SEC, the information will always be public. It just won't be provided by the US Govt. in a report - and will probably force the banks to do their own research
on it or if they already are, then to sell it, I guess.

Is the US Dept. of Labor coming up with a spin-off think-tank? What's the story?

When hiding facts backfires:  Ari Fleischer Resigns            by Sophia Barkat

The spokesperson for the Bush-Cheney Administration is leaving. Yes, Ar Fleischer, the man who has tried hard to put the best face forward for this regime, been laughed at and often taken heat for them, has decided to goodbye.

Here's the link:

pr_wh/fleischer_resigns_16

One wonders why he is leaving though he has sited the lure of the private sector. There are resports he has been at odds with the men at the top regarding "facts and figures" passed down to him. One wonders when the public face of the White House walks away, what facts the Bush Administration is really keeping from the public.
