Al-Quaeda
Al-Quaeda takes responsibility for Blackout in the US Northeast forwarded by Cherrie Lynn Lippsett Here's an article written by Mohamad Saleh, published in Dar Al Hayat, a Lebanese online newspaper: See link http://groups.yahoo.com/group/QuietPolyJuryFury/message/2025 A communiqué attributed to Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the power blackout that happened in the U.S. last Thursday, saying that the brigades of Abu Fahes Al Masri had hit two main power plants supplying the East of the U.S., as well as major industrial cities in the U.S. and Canada, "its ally in the war against Islam (New York and Toronto) and their neighbors," reports the author. by Sophia Barkat re: Cherrie's forwarded post I'm going to be bold and probably wrong, but I doubt they did it. I do think they would like to take the credit to show the US that they are still a powerful group - esp. since the loss is huge. So far no reports of hacker activities were reported by the DOE, NERC or FERC. Also terrorists take immediate credit. They don't wait to see how much money was lost. Also, Al-Quaeda -- and it's members -- are not likely to be a threat. If they were there would be more law enforcement in America -- and not less, as is the case post-911. I think that Al-Quaeda is a bunch of misguided Arabs who under Osama did cause 911 but now they are too afraid to act, probably also because they found out that the original hijacking plan on 911 became a suicide mission once on the plane. Osama fooled those boys and he has set off an alarm worldwide to corroborators. They are alone. by Craig Johnson re: Sophia's post I agree, the terrorist acts in Indonesia and the Phillipines had been going on long before 9-11. They only got a blip of a mention before 9-11, unlike now. I believe the money supply for al-Quaeda is drying up pretty fast. They will be responsible for the end of interest free Muslim exchanges that went on freely until the war on terror became serious. The long-term effect will probably alter Arab societies far more than the west. |
