Al-Quaeda
Was 911 part of a Grand Plan? Or were the terrorists simply misguided? by Sophia Barkat The way I see it, the Middle East -- due to it's oil and backdoor to Russia -- has been under the watchful eye of the UUS State Department and other Western Governments -- a reason why Kurd-slaying Turkey is a NATO base. For these reasons alone the US has been creating instability in the region, whether it's by funding Israel to populate the West Bank -- when even Israelis think it is the cause of the problems -- or by funneling weapons of mass destruction to military despots like Saddam. Up until 1990, Saddam was seen in the Middle East, as a stooge of the US. The US saw him as a reactionary who would stand up to Khomeni in Iran, and who would channel money into Hammas and such terrorist organizations, so that the US in turn could carry out aiding Israel. The US still hadn't entered Arab countries, but more and more, Iraq's attack on Saudi etc oil tankers -- which were said to be mistakes but were on purpose -- gave reason for the US to be invited to the Arab countries as military protectors of the monarchies. This enraged the civilians who thought they would never get rid of the Monarchs at this rate. Al-Quaeda wasn't known before this. Al-Quaeda, formed in Afghanistan, was just another CIA program that backfired when the US pulled out of Afghanistan without delivering its promises to rebuild the place. Osama used this to start organizing -- using poppy trading to raise money for his operations, just as the US State Department had been doing to make CIA operations self-sufficient in the 80s. We all know what they have been up to since -- blowing up embassies, attacking ships in the Middle East, and trying to work with locals to create a mass-upheaval against US presence in the Middle East. Are they friends of Saddam? Well. When Saddam attacked Kuwait in 1990, we heard way back in Bangladesh that he had spoken to April Gillespie, then US Ambassador to Iraq, who had given the go-ahead by saying "America does not have an opinion on the matter." The rumor was that Iraq was headed towards Saudi Arabia, with the blessings of the US. I would think that while Saddam and Osama, may not have known each other, that there was some talk about establishing a Saudi Democracy by toppling the monarchy. We all know that while Kuwait took a beating, the Saudi Plan, which would have driven up OPEC prices, did not work as the US moved into the region. Saddam's historic call to April Gillespie is proof that he didn't feel so sure without US support and that the US gave him the nod because it did have bigger plans for the Middle East. What happened to Saudi resistance-Saddam friendship? Probably got kicked in the shin. Saudi law would allow that. Where is the openness in the legal system? I don't know. Perhaps resistance people got slaughtered. Hmm.. Is there a connection between those people punished for alleged conspiracies against the wasteful monarchy and those who flew into WTC? Perhaps a monetary one? Perhaps Osama is the one with the connections to the people who will be martyrs? Perhaps he is also a financier? Martyrdom for Saudi Arabia? Looks like it to me. But did such connections serve well for Saddam in the end? Looks like they didn't. Was it payback for calling Auntie Gillespie? Perhaps it was. Some people are in Saudi jails and perhaps we need to start looking there. I'm sure a motivation to get fair and square with the Saudis and the US will surface. As for the attackers of 911 -- those people on the four planes and the ones who got them that far, I don't think they were daft. I do think they were tricked by Osama, for he and the big shots had no plan to back 911 up. They planned a simultaneous attack on the Pentagon, White House and World Trade Centers, indeed, which must have taken years of planning, money and a think tank behind them. But if you don't have a comprehensive assault plan to follow through how does hitting one area help protect you from counterattack? It's like the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor. Big show of power. Two atom bombs later, they are begging mercy. I'm thinking these boys were put on a hijacking mission not a suicide one and that even the self-proclaimed visible, charitable leaders were used by actual planners to take the blame. In fact I'm going to be bold and say that Osama is dead and buried in the mountains of Afghanistan and that the Bush Administration know this well, but are keeping the mystery alive so as to go from country to country looting and pillaging, as they really have been planning all along. But what about those skilled people who pulled off 911? What about the engineers who figured out how to make a plane full of oil into a bomb? What about those who thought they were paying back the "Western Infidels" who have been sucking blood out of Iraq for the last 12yrs? (The UN Food for Oil allowed the US and the Western powers to buy Iraqi oil at 60cents/barrel for 12yrs and that was not making the Republican Junta happy enough.) Those Pat Robertsons and Gerry Fallwell type news show anchors on 19th Century Fox may say they Arabs did it to get 72 virgins in heaven, for being a martyr for Islam will get you heaven, but these boys were not after heaven. Trust me. For one, I doubt they thought they were dying the way they did. Also, the Middle East is a homogenous place. You may meet some women in burquahs and hejabs but most people are not Wahabi and have been pushing for freedom from fundamentalism since Islam has been around. Sure, it's not a culture as open to some ideas as the West, but it is a moderate religion in many parts of the Middle East and Asia. In fact, Sufism (self-proclaimed path of moderation) is such a vital force in Arab societies that Mohammad -- prophet who proposed Orthodox rules -- was openly encouraging of this Sufi presence as a way for spreading his word. There was no way around it. We did hear that the Arab boys who flew into WTC were not fanatics, but moderates and in it for political reasons, not to get 72 virgins. They were brave, angry and foolish, and trusting of the planners, who disappeared into thin air once 911 happened. I'm sure that in time the remaining people will attack again and again -- give it ten years tops -- and that recruiting has become oh so easy thanks to Bush Jr.'s tactless policies both with Patriot Act and abroad. I'd look in Europe where racism is at its peak, even before 911. The way some countries in Europe manage minority relations and are run by Neo-Nazis, if left there to live, any moderate peace-loving Muslim would turn into the reverse. I'm probably one of the most outspoken atheists -- I do not believe in a God that sends holy books to Earth -- but I can assure you that being chased by white men with mohawks screaming "get out you Arab bitch!" would be enough for me, my family, my extended family and theirs to become fundamentalists, if left for a couple of years in places like Germany. While Arabs migrate to the West for economic reasons some do for asylum -- Kurds etc -- and none receive any dignified form of life. If left there, I'd probably be taking to the streets in protest, pushing all the kids to become lawyers so that we can take-over the legal system, or I'd turn into a fundamentalist wearing hejabs and screaming death to Whitey. That's how normal rational people become crazy. And that's why one should be worried about the situation in Europe and it's ability to create dangerous situations, and also the way the Bush Administration is pushing the Patriot Act. It can only divide people into races and colors. I did hear that some of the Arab boy's (911) were studying engineering in Germany. Don't know if they were angry from before, but places like that can really bring out your good side. So, no. I don't think they were that bright. I guess at some point every person decides how much grief they can take and suicide is a trade-off they are willing to make. But most of these boys were said not to have known it would be a suicide mission. All planes were headed for Canada via Albany when they decided to do an about turn. I'm thinking they were trying to hijack it in exchange for something --- pull out of US troops from Saudi Arabia? Perhaps Iraq? And they were tricked, as these things always do have a way of panning out. |
